New Wave was founded in Sevenoaks in 2003 by Kevin Whysall, following an extensive career in the commercial audio-visual sector that began in 1993. His vision was to bring high-performance technology and refined system design into the residential space. In 2010, Angus Murray joined the company as Project Director, bringing valuable expertise from a leading retail electronics environment and further strengthening the company’s technical and operational capabilities.

With over 50 years of combined senior management experience, New Wave has grown to become one of the leading specialists in the design and installation of luxury home automation, bespoke home cinema, and advanced lighting control systems. Operating across Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex, and London, the company is recognised for delivering innovative, high-quality solutions tailored to the most discerning residential clients and developers.

Kent & Surrey Showroom’s

In 2010, we relocated just outside Tonbridge to headquarters, which allowed us to offer customers and trade professionals a full demonstration of the technology we integrate into our projects. Our meeting space also allows us to consult with clients, architects, interior designers and construction companies, and we often give educational CPD courses to these professional partners.

Tonbridge Experience Centre – In September 2022, we opened our new 4,500 sqft facility consisting of offices, rack build and showrooms. We have two home cinema rooms (one dedicated to Dolby Atmos cinema), complete lighting control, smart home functionality with Lutron and Control4, and security from our Kent security partner, FSL Fire & Security. This is the first Control Certified Experience in the UK.

Surrey Showroom – In 2024, we acquired Smart Homes based in Surrey. Along with the staff joining our team, we also took on the showroom based in Windlesham, Surrey. This is home to a dedicated home cinema, media room and extensive smart home system, along with security from our Surrey security partner KBO Fire & Security.

When AV first became an integral part of my job, it was alarming and I had no idea what was going on. It has been demystified by working with people like Angus at New Wave. When I bring clients here, their expectations are massively exceeded when they see the full extent of home automation that you can only understand if you come to an experience centre.

The earlier I start working with an AV specialist, the earlier I can think about integrating all of the kit I need to integrate to provide the client with the optimum solutions. Currently, working with technology is a given in all our projects, and I think that the appointment now of an AV specialist is just as necessary as the appointment of an interior designer.

In 2007, we installed our first Lutron system, and now we have many years of experience with large-scale Lutron HomeWorks QS lighting control systems and Lutron shading.

Our history with Control4 started in 2005, and each year, we have continued to excel and are proud to be the largest dealer in EMEA and Partner of the Year 2025.

Since 2009, we have worked with Artcoustic loudspeakers, designing and delivering acoustically and aesthetically stunning home cinema and media rooms.

We represent the highest level in ‘Custom Electronic Design and Installation’ standards. We have been proud members since 2014 and awarded finalists several times.
